Offer Flexibility With Basic Residual Option

We’re happy to announce that the Basic Residual Disability Rider is now available in California for fully underwritten and GSI Platinum Advantage policies. With this addition, producers can offer more coverage choices and pricing flexibility.

The Standard’s Platinum Advantage income protection insurance offers three choices of residual disability riders in all states – Basic, Enhanced and Short-Term. Like in other states, the Basic Residual Disability Rider is available to California applicants in all occupation classes except A & B. In California, a residual rider is required. For details, please see The Standard’s IDI Online Reference Product Guide.

The language in the California Platinum Advantage Basic Residual Disability Rider is slightly different from the contract language used in other states. Under the Basic Residual Disability Rider in California, a loss of income is required to satisfy the definition of residual disability. For residual disability benefits to be payable, a loss of time or duties is also required. You can review the language in the California fully underwritten and GSI sample policies.

We’ve updated all marketing materials to reflect this change. Please contact your regional director with questions.
