New California Law for Producers

We’d like to share that California recently enacted a bill that may affect some producers.

As of Jan. 1, 2023, California requires producers licensed in the state to include their license numbers in emails when they are “engaging in activities for which a license is required.” And the state outlines specific requirements as to the size and placement of the license number in emails.

Adding license numbers to certain communications has long been in the laws for doing business in California. By adding emails, California will require that producers include their license numbers on:

• Business cards
• Advertisements
• Illustrations/Quotes
• Emails
