Creating Equity in Your Leave Program When PFML Is in Play
Date: Thursday, May 14
Time: 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. Eastern
Speakers:
- Amy Criswell, Market Segment Director for Absence Management and Disability, The Standard
- Jack Bahen, Senior Employee Benefits Consultant, The Standard
Offering a competitive benefits package is critical to attracting and retaining top talent. As paid family and medical leave laws continue to expand and vary by state, employers must address potential inequities that can arise across employee populations. Differences in eligibility, contributions, benefit levels, duration and communication can unintentionally impact fairness and access if not carefully managed.
By mid‑2026, 13 states and Washington, D.C., are expected to have PFML programs in place, with Maryland launching in 2028. Employers with multistate workforces must thoughtfully navigate these evolving requirements to create leave programs that are both compliant and equitable.
Join us for an overview of Maryland’s PFML implementation and practical strategies for balancing effective leave administration with growing state disability and PFML mandates. Learn how aligning company policies with state programs can help create leave benefits that are fair, supportive and accessible for all employees.
