Upgraded Occ Classes for Medical Professions

We’ve made changes to make Platinum Advantage GSI even more competitive. We’ve upgraded occupation classes for several medical professions. These changes are based on our ongoing market evaluation, which includes our existing business block.

Our goal is to ensure comprehensive and competitive income protection for your groups.

Upgraded Medical Occupations for Platinum Advantage GSI

The following occupations are now 5P:

  • Gastroenterologists
  • Neonatologists
  • Pathologists
  • Diagnostic Radiologists

Physiatrists are now 4P.

Transition Rules

These changes are effective immediately for Platinum Advantage in all states except California.

  • Applications, and policies out for delivery, with effective dates on or after Oct. 1, 2018. We’ll upgrade the occupation class, if eligible. 
  • Policies with effective dates before Oct. 1, 2018. Occupation class upgrades aren’t available.

Physician GSI Guidelines

If you’re looking at a physician case, remember the minimum requirements. The Standard will only consider physician GSI cases that are:

  • Employer-paid
  • 25 lives or more
  • Combined with employer-paid LTD from The Standard
