Proven: The Standard Is #2 in GSI Sales

With a company record of $14.9 million in GSI sales last year, The Standard became the #2 carrier for the first time. Thanks to partnerships with organizations like yours, The Standard’s GSI sales have skyrocketed over the past decade. Since 2010, our annual sales have increased from $4 million to almost $15 million. And we’ve nearly quadrupled our in-force block in that time.

Why are companies choosing GSI from The Standard?

Platinum Advantage provides a strong contract that covers more.

  • Our GSI product offers True Specialty Own Occ. Under the Own Occupation Rider, insured individuals can be considered totally disabled while earning money in another occupation. The Own Occupation level of income protection can be particularly important for specialized professionals. Read more in Not All Own Occs Are Created Equal.
  • With the Enhanced Residual Disability Rider,1 employers can protect employees who are still working but losing income because of disability. It provides no less than 50% of the basic monthly benefit for the first 12 months a residual disability benefit is payable. Plus, it includes a Recovery Benefit for employees who return to work in their own — or another — occupation but continue to have at least a 20% loss of income due solely to the previous disability. • Most groups can choose unlimited coverage for disability caused or contributed to by a mental disorder or substance abuse for their employees, up to the maximum benefit period.2 In addition, we provide total disability benefits for a presumptive disability, benefits for policyowners who lose income due to caring for a family member with a serious health condition,3 and an optional Catastrophic Disability Benefit Rider4 that covers more disabilities than some of the competition.

We’re committed to being easy to work with.

  • We offer online enrollment with The Standard’s Ready EnrollTM to all mandatory 20-lives or larger cases at no extra cost. Companies now expect the speed and service that electronic enrollment provides. Our secure, web-based system delivers with a quick enrollment period. Plus, it provides a simple way to enroll new people.
  • We provide comprehensive support for annual reviews, increases and additions. All we need is a census to review the case for needed increases or additions – or even to evaluate a new plan design. This means you’ll never have to submit new applications for coverage increases. Increases are simply layered onto the existing policies.
  • We offer employers with multi-state cases the option to issue policies from one state. This makes the enrollment process simple and straightforward. And it saves you and your clients from paperwork headaches.

We evaluate each RFP to provide competitive offers and pricing.

  • Our pricing flexibility allows us to offer a range of discounts based on risk factors. We strive to make competitive offers with strong provisions that both employers and employees will value. And don’t forget, an additional discount may be available to employers that buy both group Long Term Disability insurance and GSI from The Standard.

Stick With The Standard

We’ve grown our GSI sales over the last decade, but we’re not new to disability insurance. The Standard sold its first disability insurance policy in 1952 and its first GSI plan in 1999.

You can trust our long track record as disability insurance specialists. We can help you sell competitive offers, seamlessly enroll employees and ensure first-rate service through the life of the plan. We appreciate your continued partnership and look forward to growing sales together.
