Billing Change Keeps Us Informed About Terminations

We’re updating our billing practices so we learn about employee terminations promptly and ensure bills accurately capture all current employees. The changes will also ensure we give terminated employees the option to keep their coverage in a timely manner. Most employer groups  those that let us know about terminations within 30 days  won’t notice the change.

Effective Jan. 1, 2021, we’ll remove employees from bills on the first day of the month after a termination date. If an employee’s termination date is on the first day of the month, the removal will be effective the same day. If the client has paid a terminated employee’s policy premium in advance, we’ll credit the next statement.

If clients inform us more than 30 days after a termination, they may be eligible for one month of premium credit.

We’ll inform billing contacts of this change in a letter the week of Nov. 23. For those who get emailed billing statements, we’ll include a copy of the notice with December statements. To make sure you’re prepared for any questions, we’ll send agency contacts a copy of the notice the week of Nov. 16.

We’ll be notifying the billing contacts we have on file. Please ensure your HR contacts with GSI plans from The Standard are aware of this new policy. Feel free to contact your account manager with questions.
