What We Do
The Urban Tour Group is a nonprofit, volunteer-led organization dedicated to bringing Portland's history to life for elementary school students. Volunteer guides lead small groups of students through downtown Portland, sharing stories of the city's founders, historic building, riverfront and parks. The experience encourages curiosity, critical thinking and civic pride. UTG volunteers preserve Portland's stories and inspire students, while discovering Portland's treasured landmarks. Become a UTG Volunteer — it is rewarding and fun!

As a UTG volunteer, you will inspire curiosity, share our city’s rich history and make a lasting difference in the lives of elementary students. No teaching experience is needed — just a love of Portland and a willingness to learn.
