North by Northeast is the only medical clinic in Oregon devoted to Black health. We exist to improve health outcomes and advance health equity by offering primary care services and health education and promotion focused on the Black community.
What We Do
North by Northeast serves as a primary care home for approximately 650 adults and typically (during non-COVID times) offers a program of health promotion, wellness and outreach activities including Oregon Health Plan enrollment assistance, our Cuts & Checks barbershop blood pressure program, a patient advisory council and bimonthly Safe Homes! Healthy Homes! fairs.

More than four centuries of institutional, structural and individual racism have left Black Americans deeply vulnerable to harm, whether inflicted through state and police violence, a global pandemic, or a health system built to work best for white Americans. We believe lasting change is possible. It will require courage, persistence, transparency and long-term focus. We are here for the health of Black individuals and the Black community in Multnomah County, and we stand in solidarity with all those working toward racial justice near and far.
