Minds Matter Portland is a volunteer-driven mentoring and tutoring program supporting around 70 high school students each year across the Portland metro area. Our mission is to help students unlock their full potential by providing long-term, individualized support on their journey to college and beyond.
What We Do
Through weekly Saturday sessions at our Northeast Portland site (St. Andrew Nativity School) and our Hillsboro site (PCC Hillsboro Center), students receive academic tutoring, mentoring, college readiness programming, and guidance in identifying best-fit schools, so they can thrive in college without overwhelming student debt.
We're looking for dedicated mentors, tutors, and class leads who want to make a real difference. Whether you're interested in building one-on-one relationships, leading group sessions, or helping students develop their voice and vision, there’s a place for you at Minds Matter.

I've been volunteering with Minds Matter Portland for 10 years now and am continually impressed with the community. The students are hard working and resourceful. They are focused on their futures and have the foresight to invest their time on Saturdays to ensure they are excelling in school and are on the path to college. Every adult involved with the program volunteers their time to help make our students' college aspirations a reality. This is an amazing group of students and volunteers.
