Our innovative and inclusive healing arts programs are provided to children, teens and families affected by pediatric illness.
What We Do
CHAP envisions a future where every child has access to art to enhance their overall well-being. Our programs foster environments where children are celebrated for their creativity and ingenuity, rather than defined by their illness or diagnosis. Teaching artists provide 25 hours a week of art experiences in the hospital. Our Studio provides weekly Art Club for outpatient children, children within the community, and partnering organizations. CHAP in a box art projects are mailed quarterly to children unable to travel to the Studio.

Good Day Oregon visited the Studio to share CHAP's mission with the community.
CHAP brings sunshine to the darkest days these kids may ever face. Sterile rooms become whimsical. Our teachers bring the sparkle, joy, and giggles. Community is created while the children dive into their creativity together, or weary parents string beads while their children are in surgery. Making art calms the mind and allows for slower breathing, reduced heart rate, and a more calm mind. In times of great stress, CHAP brings the healing power of art.
