Helping Policyowners Navigate the Loss of an Annuitant

Losing a loved one is never easy. When an annuitant passes away, we want to help policyowners understand their options — especially how to avoid unnecessary fees.

If the person listed as the annuitant passes away, and the policyowner is someone else, the Death of Annuitant Waiver of Surrender Charge rider may help. It allows the policyowner to make one penalty-free withdrawal or surrender within 180 days of the annuitant’s death.

While these scenarios often result in a claims call, it’s important to note this is not a claim. The waiver only applies to policyowners — not to beneficiaries.

Contact us to initiate the process. We’ll need the annuitant’s death details and a copy of the death certificate.
