Year-End and New Effective Date Reminders

As we hit the middle of summer, some key dates are approaching for both closing out the 2022-2023 year and moving into the 2023-2024 program year.

Finishing Up Current GME Program Year

For current program year applications, make sure all applications are signed and dated by Thursday, Aug. 31. The Standard must receive the completed applications in our home office by Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Policies must be in force within 60 days of the effective date. For example, a policy with a July 1 effective date must be accepted by the client — and all delivery requirements must be received in our home office — by Thursday, Aug. 31. If we don’t receive all delivery requirements by Aug. 31, we’ll close the policy as not taken. To request an extension for a policy, contact your GSI associate account manager.

Effective Dates for 2023-2024

Remember, you can still write coverage with effective dates of Aug. 1 and Sept. 1 for the upcoming GME program year. No need to wait until Oct. 1.

You can now offer valuable GME coverage from your first contact with incoming GME classes. Residents and fellows can submit applications at orientation and at the beginning of each new program year.
