Policy Issue and Delivery

Policy Issue

We strive to issue policies within five business days of receiving an application. The following issues could delay start of a policy:

  • Missing or incomplete information. This will put the application in a pending status state. The policy cannot be issued until all required information is provided.
  • Policies requiring amendments will take longer to issue.

Policy Delivery

All policies will be sent via DocFast®, a third-party electronic policy delivery application. DocFast collects electronic signatures from the policyowner and the signing producer, as well as payment information.

Check policy status in DocFast.

Printing policies is less efficient as multiple signatures on corresponding issued documents will need to be collected and mailed to The Standard's home office, possibly delaying placement.

Placing the Policy In Force

A signed Receipt Agreement, signed Policy Acceptance with amendments (if applicable) and premium payment information must be received in The Standard's home office to place the policy in force.

The delivery requirements must be returned to The Standard within the requested timeframe. A policy with an outstanding delivery requirement 60 days after the policy effective date will be closed as “Not taken.”

Policies cannot be placed in force earlier than the policy effective date.
