Your employer provides Basic Life coverage if you are an "eligible retiree" (as defined in NMSA 10-7C-4) who participates under the New Mexico Retiree Health Care Authority. If you retired prior to 01/01/2012, your Basic Life coverage amount is $6,000.
NMRHCA recognizes that individuals have different needs. That is why you have the opportunity to apply for the right amount of protection for you and your loved ones at competitive group rates.
Optional Coverage Details:
For You: You may elect coverage in the amount of $2,000, $4,000, $6,000, $8,000, $10,000, $15,000, $20,000, $40,000, $46,000 or $60,000.
For Your Spouse/Domestic Partner: You may elect coverage in the amount of $2,000, $4,000, $6,000, $8,000, $10,000, $15,000, $20,000, $40,000, $46,000 or $60,000.
For Your Child(ren): You may elect coverage in the amount of $2,500, $5,000 or $10,000.
If you are a spouse/domestic partner or child of a deceased eligible (but not insured under the group policy) retiree who is receiving a Survivor’s Pension Benefit, you can elect the following coverage amounts.
For You: You may elect coverage in the amount of $2,000, $4,000, $6,000, $8,000 or $10,000.
For Your Child(ren): You may elect coverage in the amount of $2,500, $5,000 or $10,000.

Travel Assistance provides services at no charge to you and your immediate family members for most trips — for business or pleasure. You can use Travel Assistance to help plan a trip and when you’re on the road.
Here's How It Works:
- Available 24/7 for travel more than 100 miles from home and internationally for up to 180 days for business or pleasure
- Coverage for you, spouse/domestic partner and child(ren) through age 25; spouses/domestic partners and child(ren) aren’t eligible for services when traveling on business for their employers
- Easy access via Assist America Mobile App

- Health and Wellness: Timely articles about nutrition, stress management and wellness help you and your loved ones lead healthy lives.
- Identity Theft Prevention: Check the website for ways to thwart identity thieves and resolve issues if identity theft occurs.
- Funeral Arrangements: Use the website for guidance on how to begin, to educate yourself on funeral costs, find funeral-related services and make decisions about funeral arrangements in advance.

Your loved ones will have a lot to do when it comes to settling your estate, but they don't have to do it alone. Your beneficiaries have access to professional services to help them with grief, legal and financial matters via The Standard's Life Services Toolkit. This allows them to focus on caring for themselves.
Your beneficiaries will have access to supportive services that will help them cope after a loss:
- Grief Support: Counselors are on call to provide confidential grief sessions by phone or refer you to a counselor in your area. Beneficiaries are eligible for up to six face-to-face sessions.
- Legal Services: Beneficiaries can obtain legal assistance from experienced attorneys. They can schedule an initial 30-minute office visit or telephone consultation with a network attorney. Beneficiaries who wish to retain a participating attorney after the initial consultation receive a 25% rate reduction from the attorney's normal hourly or fixed fee rates.
- Financial Assistance: Beneficiaries have access to financial counselors who can help with budgeting and credit and debt management via telephone sessions.
- Support Services: Work-life advisors can guide beneficiaries to resources to help manage household repairs and chores, find child care and elder care providers or organize a move or relocation.
- Online Resources: Beneficiaries can easily access additional services and features on the Life Services Toolkit website, including online resources about funeral costs, find funeral-related services and make decisions about funeral arrangements.
