Planned or unplanned, a trip to the hospital can be scary — especially today. Even when you have medical insurance, expenses can add up. Hospital Indemnity insurance can help. It pays you a fixed benefit for every day you're in the hospital, up to a plan maximum — regardless of your other coverage. And the benefit payment goes directly to you. So, you choose how to spend the money however you want, whether it's for groceries, childcare or medical bills. You can also cover your spouse and children.
This benefit covers hospitalization due to pregnancy, childbirth, injuries and illnesses, including Covid-19. And If you're in the hospital more than 30 days, you can stop paying premiums until you're discharged. Another advantage, if you leave your employer, you can take your Hospital Indemnity insurance coverage with you. That's good to know in times like these.
The way it works is simple. If you're hospitalized, submit a claim. Once we approve the claim, The Standard will send a check directly to you, not to your medical providers.
What your benefit offers
There are 2 plans available that provide coverage for hospital admission and confinement. Please review the Hospital Indemnity benefit summaries and certificate for details.
If you are a retiree of State of Nevada PEBP and meet the eligibility requirements, you can protect yourself and your family by purchasing Hospital Indemnity Insurance coverage through The Standard. For your convenience, premiums can be deducted from your paycheck automatically. If you sign up now, you'll be protected later without having to give it a second thought.
IMPORTANT: This is a fixed indemnity policy, NOT health insurance
This fixed indemnity policy may pay you a limited dollar amount if you're sick or hospitalized.
- You're still responsible for paying the cost of your care.
- The payment you get isn't based on the size of your medical bill.
- There might be a limit on how much this policy will pay each year.
- This policy isn't a substitute for comprehensive health insurance.
- Since this policy isn't health insurance, it doesn't have to include most Federal consumer protections that apply to health insurance.
