Free annual event helps connect nonprofits with local volunteers and supporters
CINCINNATI, Ohio — Aug. 31, 2017 — On Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, Cincinnati's largest volunteer expo returns to Fountain Square for its seventh consecutive year. The Volunteer Expo, presented by Standard Insurance Company (The Standard), is a free event with more than 40 participating nonprofits in one place. The expo was created by The Standard to help community members connect with nonprofits and learn about service and donation opportunities that match their skills and interests.
From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Volunteer Expo attendees can meet with and learn about a wide variety of nonprofits that make a difference in the community. Participating organizations represent the arts, culture, humanities, the environment, animal welfare, health, human services and more. If you've ever wanted to make a difference but weren't sure how, the Volunteer Expo is a great place to start — whether you're looking for a one-time volunteer opportunity or a longer-term commitment.
“We see the Volunteer Expo as a way to highlight the nonprofits that help make Cincinnati a thriving community many of these organizations rely on support from volunteers to do their work,” said Greg Ness, chairman, president and CEO of The Standard. “The Standard has a longstanding commitment to organizations that positively impact our communities. We're proud to host this event for the seventh year in Cincinnati.”
The Volunteer Expo also kicks off The Standard's annual Employee Giving Campaign. The campaign takes place in September and encourages employees to support nonprofit organizations of their choosing. During the 2017 campaign, employee contributions will again be matched 2:1 up to $5,000 per employee, for a total gift of up to $15,000 per employee to the school or nonprofit of the employee's choosing. The 2016 campaign broke previous company records, exceeding $4.2 million. It impacted more than 1,500 schools and nonprofit organizations across the United States, including the Dragonfly Foundation, Habitat for Humanity and the Ronald McDonald House.
Join us for the 2017 Volunteer Expo on Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Fountain Square, located at the intersection of Fifth Street and Vine in downtown Cincinnati. The event is open to the public and free of charge. Learn more at standard.com/volunteer.
