Opening last September, the Office already employs more than 100+ employees
PORTLAND, Oregon — Sept. 6, 2017 — Standard Insurance Company (The Standard) is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its regional office in Altavista, Virginia.
On Sept. 6, 2016, The Standard opened the office in Altavista to accommodate growth and support the company's Life and Disability Services organization. The Virginia office is the Portland, Oregon, company's fourth regional site, along with Hillsboro, Oregon, White Plains, New York, and Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Standard announced plans in 2016 to open the office with 25-30 employees, growing to 200 by late 2019. Currently, more than 100 employees are working in the Altavista office and the company is on track to meet or exceed its 2019 target.
“We are delighted to mark our one-year anniversary in Altavista,” said David Payne, vice president of Life and Disability Services at The Standard. “Over the past year, we've hired talented people in the region and we continue to believe that Altavista, Lynchburg and the surrounding communities in Campbell County are a strong match with our corporate culture.”
Altavista Mayor Mike Mattox said, “The growth and investment of The Standard in Altavista is welcomed. The Standard’s investment has set Altavista apart from other communities in the Commonwealth. The Standard has donated time and money to various community charities and the quick expansion has assisted other businesses in our town. The Standard ethic shows in our community. We look forward to celebrating a bright future and continued growth for The Standard and our town.”
“We are delighted to reach this milestone and celebrate the first anniversary of The Standard's locating in Campbell County,” said Stan Goldsmith, Altavista representative on the Campbell County Board of Supervisors. “We appreciate their commitment to our community and look forward to a long continuous relationship. Congratulations and thank you to The Standard.”
The Standard is known for its strong corporate community involvement and also for matching its employees' charitable donations dollar for dollar. From donating millions of dollars annually to volunteering thousands of hours each year with schools, food banks and other organizations, The Standard and its more than 3,000 employees make a real difference in the communities they call home.
During The Standard's first year in Altavista, the company has sponsored several events and supported numerous nonprofit organizations including the American Heart Association's Heart Walk, Altavista on Track's annual Giblet Jog 5K run as well as support for the Altavista Area YMCA, Altavista Area/Campbell County Habitat for Humanity and Frannie's House.
