Disability Insurance with The Standard

Standard Insurance Company provides Basic Long Term Disability (BLTD) and Supplemental Long Term Disability (SLTD) insurance to eligible employees covered by insurance benefits administered by the South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority (PEBA). You are in good company. The Standard is a nationally recognized provider of employee benefits products and services. The Standard provides insurance to more than 25,000 groups, covering approximately 6.5 million employees nationwide.1

Open enrollment is October 1 - 31, 2020

During the 2020 enrollment period, employees who are actively at work on October 1, 2020, may enroll in Supplemental Long Term Disability (SLTD) coverage (90-day or 180-day benefit waiting period) without providing medical evidence. Employees who already have SLTD coverage can reduce their benefit waiting period from 180 days to 90 days without medical evidence, too. Changes made during open enrollment are effective January 1, 2021. Learn more in this flyer.

The preexisting condition provision applies and is explained in the Insurance Benefits Guide.

You may enroll in SLTD coverage outside of open enrollment at a later date, but you will be required to provide medical evidence to The Standard for review and approval before the coverage becomes effective.
