Cybersecurity Contract Addendum for NY Producers

We’ve sent all active producers appointed in New York a contract addendum to comply with a new New York Cybersecurity Regulation. All producers licensed in New York must be in compliance by March 1, 2019. There are some limited exemptions for compliance provided under the law.

The addendum contains security requirements to be implemented by New York producers. This includes establishing an information cybersecurity program, adopting security controls to protect nonpublic information from cybersecurity threats and reporting cybersecurity events.

The addendum also states that The Standard may conduct a risk assessment of the cybersecurity practices of New York producers. We’ll provide further notice to New York producers as those assessments progress.

We sent producers who haven’t submitted New York business in more than 12 months a letter to notify them that their New York appointment with The Standard has been discontinued. If they submit New York business in the future, we’ll immediately reappoint them and send them the contract addendum at that time.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your regional director.
