Ness Retires as The Standard’s CEO
J. Greg Ness retired as chairman and CEO of The Standard on July 1. He’ll continue to serve as executive chairman of the board. Dan McMillan is now The Standard’s president and CEO.
We celebrate Ness’ outstanding leadership during his 42-year career with the company and wish him well in his retirement. He joined The Standard in 1979, when the company had just over 400 employees. As president, CEO and chairman of the board, Ness led The Standard through more than a decade of challenge, change and growth. He helped the company weather two economic recessions, transition to a private company and navigate a global pandemic. Total revenue during his leadership rose more than 40 percent, and his tenure as CEO ended with a national workforce of more than 3,100 employees.
McMillan took over as president and CEO on July 1. He has held a succession of leadership positions, including executive vice president and vice president of the Insurance Services Group. In addition, he spearheaded large-scale business, technology and efficiency initiatives for the company. We look forward to future growth under his leadership in the years ahead.
