Life insurance from The Standard includes more than just protection from financial hardship in the event of a death. Group Life insurance comes with a package of services to help employees and their beneficiaries make important decisions now and in the future.
The Life Services Toolkit is automatically available to those enrolled in Life insurance plans from The Standard. Beneficiaries have access to services for 12 months following the date of death.
Online Tools for Employees
The Life Services Toolkit website features online resources to help employees:
- Prepare a will or other legal documents
- Handle basic financial matters
- Discover ways to lead a healthier life
- Thwart identity theft
- Make advance funeral arrangements
Services for Beneficiaries
For 12 months after the date of death, a beneficiary can call a toll-free number for such services as grief support, funeral-planning services, and legal and financial assistance. Beneficiaries are eligible for up to six face-to-face grief sessions with a trained counselor, simple will preparation and phone consultation with a financial counselor, among other services. They may also consult helpful online resources about estate planning and other matters.
Employees who receive an Accelerated Benefit can access the beneficiary services as well. The Life Services Toolkit is not available to Life insurance beneficiaries who are minors or to non-individual entities such as trusts, estates or charities.
Available at No Extra Cost
There is no cost to employees or beneficiaries to use the Life Services Toolkit. Contact your insurance advisor or your regional Employee Benefits Sales and Service Office to learn more about this service.
