The Standard's Volunteer Expo Is Going Virtual This Year

Anyone can connect online with local nonprofits on Sept. 10.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Standard’s 12th annual Volunteer Expo is going virtual this year.

Representatives from 100 of the most beloved nonprofits in the Portland metro area will be available by phone or email on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to noon to connect you with safe opportunities to volunteer, donate and support your community.

The annual expo is usually held in downtown Portland in Pioneer Courthouse Square. For health and safety reasons, it is being held online this year.

“Going online this year means we can continue connecting folks with nonprofits that need our support more than ever,” said Greg Ness, chairman, president and chief executive officer of The Standard. “There are still ways to safely volunteer during the pandemic, sometimes from home, and you can also learn about other ways to support the causes you care about.”

This is the 12th anniversary of the expo, representing more than a decade of The Standard’s commitment to providing ways for volunteers and nonprofits to connect. The Standard has long been committed to supporting organizations that make a positive difference in the community.

Participating nonprofits represent the arts, culture, humanities, the environment, animal welfare, health, human services and more. Some of the organizations include Trillium Family Services, SOLVE, Blanchet House, Community Action, Special Olympics Oregon and Adaptive Sports.

The Standard’s Volunteer Expo is the largest in Portland. It is a free annual event and it kicks off The Standard’s annual Employee Giving Campaign, which encourages employees to support their favorite nonprofit organizations. Last year, employees and retirees from The Standard gave $5.1 million after The Standard’s dollar-for-dollar match, supporting 1,900 organizations and schools. Learn more at standard.com/volunteer.
