The Standard Partners with Altwork to Bring Game-changing Workstation to Employees

Standard Insurance Company (The Standard), a leading provider of financial products and services, and Altwork , a San Francisco-based technology and engineering startup, have announced a strategic partnership in conjunction with The Standard’s flagship disability management program, Workplace Possibilities . The partnership will continue both companies’ efforts to provide supportive workstations for employees with disabling health conditions and aid in shortening return-to-work durations.

The Standard and Altwork are showcasing the workstation together at the 2018 DMEC Annual Conference, which will be held Aug. 6-9 in Austin, Texas. The breakthrough design of the Altwork Station offers four key working positions — stand, sit, recline and zero gravity — to help accommodate employees experiencing pain or recovering from a health condition.

“From day one, the mission of the Workplace Possibilities program has been to get employees back to work. However, traditional sit-stand workstations don’t always solve the issues an employee faces — especially when they are experiencing significant pain,” said Brian Kost, senior program director of the Workplace Possibilities program at The Standard. “The revolutionary design of the Altwork Station allows us to offer a state-of-the-art accommodation to help employees with a variety of health issues return to work faster, work longer and be more productive.”

By entering into this partnership, Altwork Stations will be available to Workplace Possibilities customers who are looking to accommodate employees. The workstation can be sent to an employee’s home or workplace, and is ideal for employees with sedentary jobs who are required to use a computer for more than three hours a day.

“It has been personally and professionally rewarding for the entire Altwork team to see how employees are able to return to work using an Altwork Station,” said Rick Spencer, chief business officer at Altwork. “In fact, when we surveyed our customers, we found they were able to increase their workable hours by 2.4 times compared with using a traditional sit-stand desk. This is when we knew we had a breakthrough solution for the disability market. When we were introduced to The Standard, we quickly recognized their commitment as a leader in the disability space. Their innovative thinking and solutions completely aligned with our mission and vision for the Altwork Station. In partnership with Workplace Possibilities, we look forward to providing employees with a workstation that can adapt to their individual physical needs and supporting The Standard’s clients who are committed to disability prevention and wellness.”
