The Standard Appoints Thomas Simpson as Assistant Vice President and Corporate Controller
PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Standard Insurance Company (The Standard) today announced the appointment of Tom Simpson, currently senior director of Financial Planning and Analysis, as assistant vice president and corporate controller.
In his new role, Simpson will have oversight for all external and parent company financial reporting, including statutory reporting, investment accounting and accounting policy. He will also continue to have responsibility and oversight for financial systems, financial planning and analysis, operating expense budgeting and reporting as well as business support functions.
Simpson has 20 years of experience in the insurance industry and started with The Standard in 2007 as a senior financial analyst. He has held various management positions in Corporate Finance and Accounting, including director of SEC Reporting and senior director of Financial Reporting and Accounting Policy. Before joining The Standard, he worked for Nationwide Insurance Company as a finance manager.

He is a certified public accountant, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a board member and chair of the audit committee for Relay Resources, a nonprofit organization in the Portland area.
