Each of these areas align with core elements of The Standard's business and support our broader purpose of helping people achieve financial security so they can confidently pursue their dreams.

Types of Grants Available

Through our corporate giving program, The Standard makes general operating, program support and in-kind contributions. The Standard matches - dollar for dollar - employee donations to charitable organizations and higher education institutions through the annual employee giving campaign. The Standard also provides grants to organizations where our employees volunteer their time through our Dollars for Doers Program.

Funding Cycles

Eligible proposals are reviewed throughout the year. Grant decisions are based on the availability of funds and relevance to funding focus areas.

Grant Submission

The Standard will consider grant requests in any format. Please be sure to list the amount requested, what the funds will be used for, the date of the event or when funds are needed and a brief description of the organization. We strive to review and respond to all requests within 30 days.

Geographical Considerations

While priority is given to organizations that serve areas where The Standard's employees live and work, funding requests for organizations serving other communities are also considered.

Eligibility/Qualifications

The Standard receives more requests each year than it can fund. That’s why we established guidelines that help us make thoughtful decisions and use our resources to the best possible advantage.

To qualify for a grant, an organization must:

• Be a charitable, not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization as determined by Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service
• Meet the guidelines outlined in How to Apply

We will not consider funding requests for:

• Organizations that are not tax-exempt under paragraph 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code
• Veterans, labor, religious, athletic or fraternal groups
• Individuals, for any purpose
• Organizations that discriminate against individuals on the basis of creed, color, sex, age, national origin or veteran status
• Contributions to or memberships in chambers of commerce, service clubs, taxpayer associations and other similar bodies
• Establishment or support of endowments, annual appeal, debt retirement or operational deficits
• "Pass through" organizations or private foundations
• Athletic events or teams, bands and choirs (including equipment and uniforms)
• Requests to support travel
• Endowment campaigns
• Organizations that influence, promote or attempt to initiate legislation, support political candidates or political philosophies
• Public or private K-12 schools
