Effective July 1, 2007, the State of Ohio basic Group Term Life insurance has been expanded to include Occupational Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage for exempt employees.
The basic Group Term Life insurance is equal to your annual base salary rounded to the nearest $1,000. Benefits are payable to the named beneficiaries for death from any cause.
Occupational AD&D coverage provides you with protection against accidental occupational death and provides benefits up to the same amount as your basic Group Term Life coverage. It also provides benefits in the event of a covered occupational accident for loss of hand, foot or sight. Unlike Life insurance, Occupational AD&D coverage does not pay benefits in the event of a death that results from illness. For additional information regarding other exclusions and limitations, please review the Group Term Life insurance Certificate of Coverage.
The Standard's basic Group Term Life and Occupational AD&D insurance plan contains a number of enhanced features including an Accelerated Living Benefit.
