Louisiana Sheriffs' Association provides Basic Life, AD&D and Dependents life insurance at no cost if you are an active employee who regularly works at least 30 hours each week.

Group Life Features

• Waiver of Premium: Continues Life insurance coverage without premium payments for employees who are totally disabled
• Accelerated Benefit: Allows insured employees with a life expectancy of less than 12 months to collect a portion of their life insurance benefit early
• Repatriation Benefit: Supplies an additional benefit that helps to pay expenses related to transporting the remains of employees who die more than 200 miles from their homes
• Portability: Provides a convenient option for group life insurance coverage to eligible employees when their employment terminates
• MEDEX^® Travel Assist: Helps employees with medical care situations and other emergencies when they travel more than 100 miles from home or internationally

Dependents Life

Louisiana Sheriffs' Association provides Dependents Life coverage with Group Life insurance for employees to provide coverage for their dependents, including spouses and eligible children.

AD&D Insurance

Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage provides extra protection for employees and their families in the event of a covered accidental death or injury. AD&D insurance is designed to reduce the financial burdens associated with the loss of life, limb or sight.

AD&D Features

• Family Benefits Package: Provides career adjustment, child care and higher education benefits^* to family members of insured employees who die as a result of an accident
• Seat Belt Benefit: Pays a benefit equal to the amount of the AD&D benefit, up to $10,000, to beneficiaries when an employee dies in an automobile accident while wearing a seat belt
• Air Bag Benefit: Provides further protection in the event of a covered automobile accident for which the Seat Belt Benefit is payable
• Expanded AD&D: Available at an added cost, offers additional coverage to help protect employees from unexpected financial hardships resulting from the accidental loss of life due to occupational assault, loss of speech or hearing, paralysis and other covered losses
• Line of Duty: Provides an additional benefit to public safety officers who suffer a covered loss while in the line of duty
