The Standard Helps Claimants Return to Work
Mary*
Mary suffered a brain injury. She had residual symptoms that were inconsistent with continuing to work in her old job. However, Mary was very motivated to return to work in a different capacity. The Standard’s vocational case manager assisted her with career coaching, resumé preparation and job search. Mary ultimately accepted a full-time management position for a nonprofit organization.
Paul*
Paul had residual back pain made worse by walking on the concrete surfaces at his workplace. The Standard’s vocational case worker purchased a pair of special coil-spring, shock-absorbing shoes designed to reduce back symptoms that result from standing and walking on hard surfaces. Paul was able to return to work without any worsening of his symptoms
Jack*
Jack is a physician with progressive hearing loss. He wanted to continue to work in his specialty, but was not able to examine patients fully due to his hearing loss. His vocational case manager at The Standard identified a cardiology-quality stethoscope with a volume control. Jack was able to return to work using that stethoscope.
