The Standard is helping you to place IDI policies before year’s end
With 2009 fast approaching, your friends at The Standard know you like to maximize your commissions before year’s end. To help you, here are some reminders of The Standard’s administrative business rules which will support you in meeting your year-end goals.

The Standard accepts faxed or encrypted copies of delivery requirements.
If you choose to send faxed or encrypted copies of delivery requirements you no longer need to mail in the original signed documents, but we do ask that you retain the originals until the case has been placed in force and commissions have been paid. For cases that require payment of premium, we will either need the original check with original delivery requirements, or the applicant may complete the One-Time and/or Recurring Electronic Funds Transfer Form as described below and submit this with the other faxed/encrypted delivery requirements.

Receipt of premium checks
In order to place a case where premium is required as a delivery requirement, The Standard does not require a premium check. In these instances, The Standard will allow the applicant to authorize a special bank withdrawal by completing the One-Time and/or Recurring Electronic Funds Transfer Form, form 1804IDI, together with a copy of a voided check so we can place your case without a premium check. Please note that since the form serves the dual purpose of a one-time debit authorization and/or recurring EFT payment authorization, the entire form must be completed. Incomplete forms may lead to delay of commission payment.

  • For New Business, copies of the policy delivery requirements should be faxed to your Customer Management Specialist.
  • For FPO and Increase policies, copies of the policy delivery requirements should be faxed to 800.378.4574.
In order for The Standard to place cases using the above rules, please

  • ensure that all delivery requirements have been met.
  • pay particular attention to the proper completion of all policy delivery forms.
Delivery requirements with missing or incorrect information can cause delays and may result in cases not being placed in force prior to year's end.

Policies with effective dates of December 29, 30 or 31
Policies with effective dates of December 29, 30 or 31 will be put in force with an effective date of January 1, 2009 subject to the terms of the Policy Acceptance. Please contact your Customer Management Specialist for assistance on determining policy effective dates.

Commission Cut-Off
Your IDI teams at The Standard will make every effort to place your business in force before the year-end commission cut-off date of December 29, 2008.

Policy Delivery Requirements received on or before December 24, 2008
The Standard guarantees that all pending IDI policies with complete and compliant delivery requirements received at The Standard on or before December 24, 2008 will be placed in force by the end of business on commission cut-off December 29, 2008.

Holiday Closures
  The Standard’s offices will be closed December 25 - 28, 2008.

Policies with Delivery Due Dates in December
For any policies with delivery requirement due dates in December 2008, the deadline to return delivery requirements to The Standard will automatically extend to January 5, 2009 unless otherwise requested.
